This is a guide for clinic owners, not legal advice. Every line points to the law or the regulator's own page, checked on 2026-10-21. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so.
Under the statute below, the consent of one party to the call is enough. Federal law lets a party to a call record it, so the federal rule applies the same way here.
We found no state law that requires a business or health provider to tell a caller, texter or patient they are dealing with an AI. This rests on secondary trackers and web searches, not on the legislature's own search, so it is a finding of none found and not proof that none exists.
We could not confirm a state privacy law beyond HIPAA. A 2026 omnibus privacy law is reported but not yet in force and its text was not read, so we state nothing about what it exempts. HIPAA still binds a covered clinic and its business associate vendor.
Alabama's Telemarketing Act defines a commercial telephone solicitation as an unsolicited call initiated by a commercial telephone seller or salesperson, so it covers solicitation only. The exempt entities in the next section were not read. The federal rules on AI-voice calls and texts apply as well.
We found no statement from the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
We found no statement from the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners and the Medical Licensure Commission on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
The federal rule applies here; nothing specific to this place was found.
The ADA requires a public accommodation to provide effective real-time communication, including text telephones and FCC-approved relay systems. A clinic phone line answered by an AI agent must still work for a relay caller.
Aida opens every call with the recording notice your province or state needs, and says it is the practice's AI agent wherever you want it to. Request a demo with your clinic's rules in mind.
