Louisiana is a one-party consent state for recording calls. A 2026 law requires a spoken notice when AI transcribes a patient appointment, which is not an answering line duty.

This is a guide for clinic owners, not legal advice. Every line points to the law or the regulator's own page, checked on 2026-10-21. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so.
Under the statute below, the consent of one party to the call is enough. Federal law lets a party to a call record it, so the federal rule applies the same way here.
Louisiana R.S. 37:22.1 (Act 649 of 2026, HB 475) requires a licensed healthcare professional to verbally disclose the use of any recording device, software or service to a patient before recording any part of an appointment or treatment to be transcribed by artificial intelligence. It is an AI transcription notice for appointments, not a duty for an AI answering line.
We could not confirm a state privacy law beyond HIPAA. A 2026 omnibus privacy law is reported but not yet in force and its text was not read, so we state nothing about what it exempts. HIPAA still binds a covered clinic and its business associate vendor.
Louisiana's Consumer Telemarketing Protection Act makes it unlawful to use automatic dialing and announcing equipment, or a live operator, to make calls to advertise or offer goods, services or property for sale, or to conduct polls or solicit information, without the required consent. Calls are also barred outside 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It covers advertising and polling only. The federal rules on AI-voice calls and texts apply as well.
We found no statement from the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
We found no statement from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
The federal rule applies here; nothing specific to this place was found.
The ADA requires a public accommodation to provide effective real-time communication, including text telephones and FCC-approved relay systems. A clinic phone line answered by an AI agent must still work for a relay caller.
Aida opens every call with the recording notice your province or state needs, and says it is the practice's AI agent wherever you want it to. Request a demo with your clinic's rules in mind.
