Idaho is a one-party consent state for recording calls. A 2026 conversational AI bill, read in its engrossed text rather than the session law, excludes customer service chatbots, so a clinic scheduling agent is probably outside it.

This is a guide for clinic owners, not legal advice. Every line points to the law or the regulator's own page, checked on 2026-10-21. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so.
Under the statute below, the consent of one party to the call is enough. Federal law lets a party to a call record it, so the federal rule applies the same way here.
Idaho SB 1297 (2026, new Idaho Code 48-2103) requires an operator to clearly and conspicuously disclose that a conversational AI service is artificial intelligence if reasonable persons would be misled to believe they are interacting with a human. LegiScan lists an effective date of 2027-07-01. The definition excludes a chatbot used only for customer service, a business's operational purposes, productivity purposes, or analysis related to source information, internal research or technical assistance. We read the engrossed bill, not the session law.
We found no comprehensive consumer privacy law and no consumer health data law in force here. We checked secondary update lists, not the legislature's own search. A state medical records or professional confidentiality statute may also apply and was not searched. HIPAA still binds a covered clinic and its business associate vendor.
We found no Idaho autodialer statute in a law firm's state-by-state list. We did not search the official code, so a state telemarketer registration or home solicitation law may still reach commercial calls. The federal rules on AI-voice calls and texts apply as well.
We found no statement from the Idaho State Board of Dentistry on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
We found no statement from the Idaho Board of Medicine on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
The federal rule applies here; nothing specific to this place was found.
The ADA requires a public accommodation to provide effective real-time communication, including text telephones and FCC-approved relay systems. A clinic phone line answered by an AI agent must still work for a relay caller.
Aida opens every call with the recording notice your province or state needs, and says it is the practice's AI agent wherever you want it to. Request a demo with your clinic's rules in mind.
