This is a guide for clinic owners, not legal advice. Every line points to the law or the regulator's own page, checked on 2026-10-21. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so.
We did not confirm Vermont's rule on recording a call. An earlier report said Vermont has no statute, and we could not support that: State v. Geraw (2002) concerns police recording in the home under the state constitution and does not show that Vermont has no private-party statute. We state no rule.
We found no Vermont law in force that requires telling a caller they are speaking with an AI. Act 156 of 2026 (H.816) adds 18 V.S.A. 7115 on prohibited uses of AI in mental health services. A general chatbot disclosure bill (H.783) was only referred to committee on 2026-01-27 and is not enacted as far as the bill page shows.
We could not confirm a state privacy law beyond HIPAA. A 2026 omnibus privacy law is reported but not yet in force and its text was not read, so we state nothing about what it exempts. HIPAA still binds a covered clinic and its business associate vendor.
We found no Vermont autodialer statute in a law firm's state-by-state list. We did not search the official code, so a state telemarketer registration or home solicitation law may still reach commercial calls. The federal rules on AI-voice calls and texts apply as well.
We found no statement from the Vermont dental board on AI agents. Our check was a web search, not a search of the board's own site, so this is not proof of absence.
We found no adopted statement from the Vermont Board of Medical Practice on AI agents. Its minutes of 6 May 2026 record a member's report on a conference session about AI and regulators, who suggested the Board form ad hoc committees, and a discussion of H.816, whose draft calls on the Board and the Office of Professional Regulation to prepare a report with recommendations on regulating AI use by regulated professionals. No adopted board AI policy was found.
The federal rule applies here; nothing specific to this place was found.
The ADA requires a public accommodation to provide effective real-time communication, including text telephones and FCC-approved relay systems. A clinic phone line answered by an AI agent must still work for a relay caller.
Aida opens every call with the recording notice your province or state needs, and says it is the practice's AI agent wherever you want it to. Request a demo with your clinic's rules in mind.
